Hello Billy:
When a Bluetooth device that is approved by the Windows Hardware Quality
Labs (WHQL) the device is detected as present and Bluetooth support is
enabled. When Bluetooth support is enabled, you can find changes in the
Network Connections section in Control Panel. A new Control Panel item
called Bluetooth Devices will also be added. In addition, you can find the
new Bluetooth File Transfer Wizard by clicking Start, pointing to
Accessories, and pointing to Communications.
If an existing non-Microsoft Bluetooth network driver is installed,
upgrading to Service Pack 2 for Windows XP will not cause the existing
driver to be replaced. It can be replaced later, either manually or
programmatically. The manufacturer of your BT device may need to have WHQL
drivers from Widcomm(or whatever stack they are using) and/or your
manufacturer to support Service Pack 2. It shouldn't have to though, since
most had been submitted for approval.
I was able to get it to work with a TDK BT Dongle, I have yet to try it
with any other BT hardware. If the services are finding your devices you
may want to try uninstalling your BT hardware and reinstalling it again
and see if it can connect and pair with your other BT devices. The only
problems I had seen were that the BT icons were a bit dodgey...
Some have had mixed results to get it to work - some were lucky by just
having their computer search for available services and having it
installed with their Bluetooth devices. Others on the other hand had to
revert to SP1 with their original BT device drivers...
For more information on changes in SP2 head here:
Hope this helps...
