| Hi there,
|
| Amongst third party backup software I have read that Pocket Backup from
| sprite software is very good.... but most backup software applications will
| come at a price....visit the following Web site for a comparison of various
| backup utilities that are available --
|
| http://www.davespda.com/features/backup.htm
|
| Here are points that you might like to consider while restoring a ActiveSync
| backup file--
|
| 1. You must be connected in the Guest mode.
| 2. The PPC should have the same regional settings as when the backup
| occurred.
|
| Visit Chris De Herrera's site for more detailed inforamtion on restoring a
| ActiveSync backup file---
|
| http://www.cewindows.net/faqs/activesync/backup.htm
|
| Unless you delete the old partneship from ActiveSync, it will not let you
| use the same device name... every partnership is unique and therefore if you
| want to use the old partnership name, then you will need to delete the old
| partnerships.
|
| 1. Disconnect the PPC from the computer.
| 2. Open ActiveSync and click File, then Delete Partnerships.
| Continue this process to delete any previously created
| partnerships until that option is grayed out.
|
| If you don't want to lose the data files that are stored in the
| synchronization folder, I recommend you to copy and store all the files in a
| temp folder... you can restore these files once a new partnership has been
| formed....
