data was lost

Hello,

      I am new user of PocketPc. I used PocketPc to store my contact
details. Unfortunately, I lost all of my data. It seems that the battery
becomes empty and hence I lost all of my data. Is it normal? What should I
do next time to not losing data?

I thought that the data should be saving on a safe place in the system
memory so I should not lose them. Can some body point me to a document that
I can read different type of memory that is used in a PocketPc and where I
should store my data so they will not erased when the battery discharged
completely?

Is there any beginner's documentation about PocketPc?
