Actually, the older readers (such as the Lexar pcmcia/cf/smartmedia) did
have problems with large cards as 128meg was huge when they were first
released.

In most cases, downloading current drivers from the reader's home site
will cure the problem, but, if not, CF readers that will are as low as
$10 at the moment, so, don't loose too much hair over the problem before
you got out and get a replacement.
