The 3600/3700 connector is not the same as the 3800/3900/1900/2200/4xxx/5xxx
connector. The car charger piece that fits into the accessory outlet will
work fine, but you will need a 2215 (or one of the compatible) USB charge or
charge-and-sync cable.
I'd get a couple of them, give the cables to friends with 3600/3700s and
look for a good deal on a 2215 cable.
