I have a similar problem with a Casio Cassiopeia.
at work a collegue has this pda and ofcourse wishes
to sync it with Outlook at work as he keeps his
countless notes and contacts there, but I tried
setting it up for him but it doesn't work, because
the setup at my work place is like this:
an exchange 5.5 setup running on Windows
2000 Advanced Server handles all email
and PIM traffic at work.
client computers have the basics installed
(MS Office and various apps), of which Outlook
is linked to Exchange through the Active Directory.
now, because Outlook's data is not located on
the client computer, ActiveSync refuses to let
me set up synchronization between the Casio
and Outlook. Notes, Tasks, Calendar, Inbox,
none of these are available.
making the Casio connect directly to the Exchange
server works for getting into the mailbox but
that doesn't give my colleague his very much more
important contact and notes data.
there was a piece of software from Microsoft that
would enable synchronization for this type of setup
but I have lost the name and cannot find it yet on
Microsoft.com..
