I used to own a Palm M500 and switched to an iPAQ 1945 last year. There is
no way I would switch back to a Palm OS. The only things that I miss are the
vibrate mode when the sound is muted and a graphic calculator I had that
hasn't yet been released for PPC.

Ocassionally I do wish that I had a slot that was compatable with my camera,
but other than that, one SD slot has been plenty.

I haven't had a problem finding software for PPC and, in my opinion, the
quality of the PPC software is much better than the Palm OS alternatives.
Search handandgo.com and you'll get a good idea of what the availability is
for the type of software that you need for either OS.

I'm not a fan of thumb size keyboards, so I already think that half of the
Sony is useless. The basic concept isn't bad, but that thing is almost twice
as thick as my iPAQ. You might as well just buy a tablet PC instead of the
sony. I went for the 1945 over higher models, because the smaller size was
more important than and extra slot and a faster processor. Running a lot of
engineering type software, I haven't really found a situation where I needed
a faster processor (which has suprised me).

If you want a gadget, buy the Sony. If you want a practical tool, go with
the iPAQ.
