My honest reply would be that you probably have it just backwards. if you
are looking for ease of use and a plain simple calendar/ contact base then
the palm OS is the way to go. it's sync application (hot sync) offers a
little more flexibility in choosing contact and calendar folder to sync on
your desktop. However, if you are a techy, then the pocketPC format is
definitely the way to go. As the name implies it truly is a pocket PC.
there is no shortage of software and games available, and the ability to use
it as a multimedia center (watch movies/ listen to mp3's etc) cant begin to
be equaled by palm. not to mention, the palmOS does not know the meaning of
multitasking (one program open at a time), whereas the pocket pc can jump
back and forth between many open/running programs. my brother in law just
dumped his sony clie for an ipaq 2215 and is loving it. on the other hand,
my father-in-law just dumped his palm for a 2215 and "can't figure the damn
thing out" ...

HI,
I am new to pdas.
I was geared up and ready to buy the new Sony UX-50 clam-shell designed pda
that has the full thumb keyboard, rotating screen, buit in camera, built in
wi-fi and bluetooth, etc.....until someone said I wouldnt like Palm OS. They
said I should get something like a Ipac h2215 ( or higher ) that runs on
pocketpc 2003(?).
I went to the circuit city store and looked at both of these, and the sony
is way-cool looking ( folds up and cool features )....but the Palm OS
seemed really-different to me ( sorta all over ).
The Ipac2215 was more plain/simple compared to the style of the sony but the
POCKET PC OS was "familiar" to me ( being a windows user ).
I am very much into computers, and into web design, high end digital video
editing, and a very techy person ( love goodies -gadgets ).......I am also
in automobile sales as my main job
The sony seemed to be geard towards my techy side, but the palm os was wierd
to me. I have to admit the pocketpc os on the ipac was more friendly.
However, I only messed with them for about an hour tops. ...... so ????
I want the "best os" and need to software to keep up with my "car sales"
with features like:, customers data base, flag me when leases are expiring,
and be able to pull up past customers and prospects be many different fields
to help me in my car sales job.
Also, I want to be satisfied with the "techy" side of me as far as ''cool
software-hardware'' goes.
I currently have a sony desktop ( wireless 802.11router and cable modem ),
and sony laptop ( built in 802.11 card ).
I am into sony UX50 but the palm os seems hard,.....................but alot
more aftermarket software out there ( car sales etc...)
The Ipac 2215 was friendly but scared i wont be happy with being able to
find software for biz and pleasure.
I don't see much to choose from out there as far as "software" choices for
pocket pc?
Also I have noticed that the local best buy has started pulling all the pdas
off the shelf........i hear something is changing in the pda world.
Q:
1. What should I buy to satisfy myself and why?
2. Why is best buy pulling all the pdas and acting like something is
changing in the market?
3.Do i need to wait?
Please feel free to email me direct!
Help!!!!!!
Thanks
Rich
