My power timeout is 10 minutes. It takes seconds to download headers
from 10 test messages. 2k headers x 10 = 20k bytes for download over
DSL. The power options don't seem to have an effect.

Steven ,
how long do you have your ppc set to saty on before it powers down?
This
would located under the power options on your device. I'm thinking that
if
it's set too short then maybe the device is powering back down before it
can
finish it's download. I have my ppc set to auto shutoff after 3 minutes
and
this seems to be enough time for it to wake up, connect to the internet
through my bluetooth phone, connect to my vpn here at home and then
collect
my mail. I'm not sure if it will fix the problem you're having but it
may
help.
