Re: Windows Mobile 6.1 Wi-Fi Support

Hello,

On your device you should see WPA2-PSK and WPA2 as the encryption options. PSK is the personal and WPA2 only is the enterprise version. For my corporate we use WPA2 enterprise and I can connect my Touch Pro with no problem - after I got the certificate from IT.

This still sounds like a certificate issue to me. Have you checked the university's IT department on it? What are they saying?

As I replied earlier, I downloaded the certificate, but in testing I stll CANNOT connect to my university's secured wireless network... perhaps the problem is that WM 6.1 doesn't seem to support the WPA2-Enterprise (AES) requirement... there must be some subtle difference between WPA2-Personal (AES) and Enterprise because while the certificate is definitely installed WM errors stating that I need a "personal certificate" installed and the IPS Servidores installs as a root certificate...

This is really problematical... if there's no solution, I'll like be obliged to drop WM and get a Blackberry or iPhone...

Again thanks... timb

Hello,

In WPA2 and AES are both supported in Windows Mobile 6.1. You can change the encryption and method if you go into the settings of the WiFi connection in Start>Settings>Connections>Wireless. You will NOT get this option if you use TouchFLO.

As for the certificate, you should have the a .cer file that you can copy to your device. Once it is on there, tap it and it will install. That should be all you need.

You may want to reach out to your administrator as well as they be able to help with any other configuration required.

I have a HTC Touch Pro running Windows Mobile 6.1... My companies wireless network requires wpa2-enterprise AES encryption and a certificate called IPS-SERVIDORES... I can't really see where these are configurable in Windows Mobile... are there updates/plug-ins etc that would get this to work ?
