Re: Bluetooth and Vista

Thanks for that info. I assume you mean your DBT 122 yes? If you did mean a 120 and that does exist, it is different from my 122 I think.

Yes, have uninstalled, installed again, doesn't matter what I do. Still seen by the system but wont work bluetooth simply because WMDC says there is no bluetooth item attached.

Interestingly, if I just install the driver and not the software that came with the device, the system finds it but nothing else happens. If I install the software, then my PDA finds the device even though nothing else happens but at no time does WMDC actually recognise that anything bluetooth is attached to the system.

Our D-link DBT 120 worked without any extra setup. The D-link USA site does not have any information on your product, but you can look at D-link AU ( http://www.dlink.com.au/Products.aspx?Sec=1&Sub1=18&Sub2=39&PID=211). It looks like there is a problem in the setup or drivers. They have manuals and a link to Tech support that you can use. My suggestion would be to uninstall the driver, reinstall and go through the configuration process again. If that doesn't work, you should contact D-link. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Could you please tell us what is happening? I know someone who has Vista and bluetooth working and he said it didn't require any special setup.

I have a d-link DBT122 dongle that, under XP, worked fine. Under Vista it is recognised in System Properties but in the Bluetooth Devices under Control Panel it is not. There it is not even noted as existing. I have attempted to get an updated driver for it in case that is the problem but there isnt any.

I am assuming you are using a desktop PC running Vista.

Yep, Business Upgrade.

Do you have bluetooth turned on and in discoverable mode?

Cant get that to happen as Bluetooth Devices wont recognise any bluetooth device attached.

What kind of dongle are you using?

As above.

What you are trying to connect to?

My Ipaq HX2190 PDA. Works just fine under XP. The PDA itself will sync via USB but of course as Vista doesnt see the dongle, it cant bluetooth sync.

Thanks.
