Re: Problem Connecting to Wireless Router After Soft Reset on MPC

Yeah, WEP isn't the greatest, but it's all I've got. My router is
older so WPA2 is not an option.

I know my PDA is remembering the WEP setting because when I reboot my
router I can connect again without any difficulties--without
re-entering the WEP key. It's only when I turn off my PDA and turn it
back on that the problem occurs. It's probably a setting on my router
somewhere, but I really have no idea what it might be. The only thing
that comes to mind is that I have static IP addresses assigned to each
device connected to my router based on MAC address. The other thing
that is interesting is that the log on the router shows that my PDA
never disconnected, even after I turn off my PDA. Kinda strange and a
little suspicious--but I don't know if it is the culprit or not. Any
help is appreciated.

Regards,
Matt

I don't know your PDA at all to be honest but it sounds very much like your
PDA isn't remembering its WEP setting to me. Did you set it up to remember
the passphrase?

What I suggest you do is attempt to connect with the PDA and go to a
computer and see what the logs say at the router.

BTW, WEP really only keeps the honest people out. Even the FBI have
demonstrated how it takes only minutes to break the strongest WEP. Try going
WPA2 if all your computers and their wi-fi and the Cingular can do it.
