That's just a bit disturbing.
I've had an ipaq for about a year now and have done a hard reset once and
had a flat battery while on holidays once. In my case I know it was bad
software that did the damage and caused the problems with sync. First
thing to do is ask yourself why you are having so much trouble recovering
from a
The reason is that it is an Ipaq. They really are crap. I honestly should
know better. I know their laptops at HP are OK and their peripherals are as
well but desktops are crap and that should have made me stop and
think....sigh....
hard reset. Set up you PPC just the way you like it, all the base apps
that you can't do without, all the servers, networks, passwords and
relationships set up, now do what all people should do (but don't) buy
sprite backup (or another one) and do a full backup, make sure to put the
backup exe on the
Personally, I dont see the point in a backup prog for a PPC like the HX2190.
If I can get it to successfully autosync, everything I need is on the
computer as a result. So, a complete reset later (formatting etc) when it is
brand new again, autosync it and within minutes everything is back again -
oh and in case anyone is wondering, yes that IS what happens when it works.
I have had it 9 months and done so many resets now (formats) that it I lost
count. I have done only 1 since I got it back from being fixed but that was
about a week after getting it back. Bad news.
storage card with the backup. That has cost you next to nothing for peace
of mind and the loss of time is only 2-3 min for the restore and the time
of the first sync. You can add software and test reliability for a week
and do another backup. A hard reset fixing the problem points to bodgey
software being installed or some other software related issue. Let a kid
loose on a desktop PC with a handful of shareware discs from magazine
covers and bargain bins at the supermarket, you'll see the same symptoms.
I found one interesting fact if you want to use bluetooth autosync with the
HX2190 - install wi-fi-fo-fum and it wont do it. Uninstall it and it will,
most of the time. So that program is one of the problems.
