I agree that HP devices have had their share of problems, but, being here
on an ongoing basis, don't think there are any oems that have not had a
similar level of device problems to deal with.

I understand what you said about what the OP said but I did say that his
case wasn't really a HP problem.

In regards to my HX2190, I did a complete clean reset and it is working
again for now. Two things to note, here:

1) I shouldn't have HAD to have done a clean reset, losing everything on the
PDA and rebuilding what I wanted on it but there it is. I wanted Activesync
via BT and I wanted the Pocketgear wi-fi SD card to work in it and they
wouldn't until I did the clean reset.

2) This is an almost constant thing with Ipaqs from what I see on their help
forum and my own personal experience. You use it very close to reliably for
about 3 weeks and then it loses reliability past that until probably
somewhere between 4-6 weeks later, it needs a clean reset once more. This
HX2190 of mine, when it died completely and went in under warranty for
repair actually had the innards replaced so it is as "new" as if it came out
of the shop. They even applied the latest ROM updates on it before they sent
it back and yet STILL it is the same.

Would I buy HP again? In regards to PDAs, no I wouldn't until they really
get their act into gear but of course, there is always the thought - "I
spent A$455 on this one. Do more expensive ones act more reliably or are
they just more expensive and as bad as mine?". Interesting question but for
now I would advise anyone to steer clear of them and as it turns out, though
I don't do a lot of work with PDAs, I do actually work in the industry and
people do ask me what is best for their needs. Certainly the HX2190 doesn't
seem to meet anyone's needs! I would hate to be just a user with no real
understanding of the thing and trying to use it, putting up with the low
reliability of the unit. At least I have an understanding of how to set it
up quickly.
