That's a pretty old device that's been out of production for some time
h19XX - yes (1910,1935,1945/ WM2002 or 2003)
rx1955 - don't think so (WM 5.0!)
It's still on HP's website and in the stores

so, would suggest that the villain in this event is Staples and it is on
par with a number of bad experiences I have encountered and heard about
over the past year.

If I were you, would go back to Staples and escalate as far as possible.
