Like most people I have a ton of MP3's on my PC and with the nice
weather would like to play the music outside but my PC is in my
basement. This means openening the windows, cranking the sound (barely
hear it outside) and having to go to basement everytime I want to
change the playlist/song.
Ideally I would like to use my PDA (Toshiba e310) to browse my
collection and play music on the PC to wireless speakers that I can
drag wherever I want to go around the house. The maximum range would
be about 50ft.
I currently have no wireless equipment My PDA has one SDIO slot.
General info on the PDA can be found at

- Does a method exist to do this on a limited budget (roughly $200 CAD)
or does a better method exist to go about it?
- I take it I would need a WIFI SDIO card, wireless router and wirless
speakers. Anything I'm missing?
- What wireless standard should I go with (802.11x)?
- What software would allow me to remote control/browse/play the MP3's?
Regards,
Terry
Well, for that budget, I think you can do well, if you'll use just the PDA
instead of the pc. Get yourself a decent set of portable speakers. Tastes
vary, but you should be able to find a pretty good set for less than $100.
Buy a 2 GB SD card (about $40-$50), which will store quite a bit of music.
Or, a 1 GB, which would be even cheaper. Then, load up TCPMP (free). That
will allow you to create/play playlists. This IMO would be a good setup.
Hope that helps,
Jim
