Re: dynamic ip or static ip

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

assuming that is a linksys router, it will be assigned the dynamic ip address by your isp, then it will assign any computers or devices behind it (such as your laptop and ppc) "private network" addresses such as 192.168.0.xxx

If your isp is DSL, make sure the router is pppoe compatible and set up the internet dsl logon _in the router setup_ and _not_ using pppoe drivers on your computer.

You should start with NO WEP and use "automatically obtain ip address" on both devices until you have a working connection.

When you do, you can then turn WEP (encryption) back on and run the wep setup on your devices when they next connect.
