Re: WPA-TSK connection problem

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Hi Andy

Is this problem because of a bad implementation on cisco's side or microsoft?

What exactly do I loose when I switch off QOS. Does it mean, if e.g VOIP QOS
settings are in place that those would also be disabled.

How did you find out about the qos settings? On the web admin page of our
1131AG it only said failed to authenticate and I don't have any idea on how
to get a more detailed log.

Odyssey Client works so far, but I'd rather use the tools like hitchhiker or
the microsoft.

Any more information would be very helpful.

Thanks.

Regards,

Patrick

What access points are you using?

If they are Cisco AP's running IOS then the fix is to disable QoS on the
Radio interface.

interface Dot11Radio0
no qos mode
!

This is apparently a known issue with PDA's and Cisco Access Points. I
had the same issue with 2 Cisco AP's (350 with 11b & an 1100 with 11g) -
WEP would work fine but WPA wouldn't (its WPA-PSK by the way not TSK).
After a fair bit of searching on CCO I found a note on some release notes
about Windows Mobile PDA's.

Hi there,

I've recently bougth a Dell Axim X51v pda, with MS Windows Mobile 5. The
problem is the following:

I can't connect to a wireless network using WPA-TSK security. WEP works,
but that isn't safe enought. Not for the pda but the rest of the network.
The network key I use is correct because it doesn't disconnect (it does
when I type anyting wrong). However it keeps trying to connect and keeps
doing so until the battery is emty.

Does anyone has a clue? I can't find any updates or patches for win
mobile 5.

Thanks and regards,
Klaus
