Not a direct answer to your question, but a possible
workaround/improvement:

For security reasons, I've activated MAC address filtering on my home
access point. I _think_ a nice side effect is that mobile devices
connect more quickly. Perhaps they'll be more selective in your
situation.

Under Windows XP, clients can specify a preferred access point MAC
address. This certainly provides more selectivity. I'm quite sure it
is not available for WM 5. I may well be confusing this feature with
the behavior I describe above.
