As the cards sound to be pretty much the same, with perhaps Socket providing
more battery-efficient drivers (but perhaps one could use the Socket drivers
with the Sandisk card, or perhaps Sandisk will upgrade to better drivers),
and with Sandisk usually costing less, I was prepared probably to buy the
Sandisk card.
A good deal on the Socket Card right now from MobilePlanet though. (Who I
usually do not find has good prices.) They list its regular price at
$109.95, not a good price. However, now there is an instant $30 off, so one
pays $79.95. Plus a $20 mail-in rebate. So if one considers the price "with
rebate" (although I find mail-in rebates to be a hassle, and they don't
always come), it is $59.95, which is less than I have seen the Sandisk card
for.
OF course, I don't know how much they will charge for "shipping". (Although
the real shipping cost for such a small light product would be negligible
(could be sent first class mail for 37 cents), companies often pad
"shipping" charges.) And since they are in California, tax would be charged
too. But I might go for it.
