I'm using an Axim X3i and running WiNC on it; works
great. The built-in WLAN utility isn't bad either. Both
of these apps can sniff out networks easily and
effectively. Once found, you can do a lot with the
networks; pending you have the SSID off hand... The card
inside is just that...inside and not moving. It's a Dell
True Mobile 1200 wireless module capable of 1000 feet.
Only works on .11b, and also doesn't work with WPA
security. But as far as everything short of that, it's
outstanding! I have my Wi-Fi on all the time, and as long
as I don't go overboard with the brightness most of the
time, the battery does more than hold it's own with
moderate to high use. Just the other day, I believe, I
was in a shopping mall which had a coffee shop with
802.11. I decided to take a seat and browse some, and
test out my corporate VPN. It was a soldier; lasting for
three whole hours until the battery went down to 30%. But
I started with 80%!!! The VPN included with Windows
Mobile 2003 isn't very good, so I had to get the MovianVPN
from Certicom which did work over Cisco 3005
Concentrators. Hope this all helps...
