Hi Mart,
I've just configured the exact setup you describe (USR 8054 and an
ipaq 4150). I only had one problem that took me about 45min. to figure
out: the WEP ASCII input is brain-dead and you should only use the HEX
input.
However.... the router was locking up every 7-8 hours and I had to
plug/unplug the power adapter to get it back. Last night I updated
the firmware from the usr site (even though, it was already 1.17!)...
did a hard reset of the unit... and reconfigured... its been up
without a problem since.
Here's what I did:
(1) with paper clip, press in the reset button and hold for 10
seconds, unplug the power, wait another 10 seconds, plug back in the
power, wait another 10 seconds, release the reset button.
(2) reboot your PC so it can get the new DHCP info from the router
(3) login to the configuration screen (password will be empty)
(4) JUST CLOSE THE WIZARD WINDOW, i.e. ignore the buttons in the
window
(5) add a password, router will reset
(6) log back in, ignore wizard, go to wireless configuration and
activate basic WLAN, router will reset
(7) log back in, ignore wizard, go to wireless configuration and
enable 128bit wep, type in 26 HEX characters into the first key,
apply, router will reset.
(8) turn on your IPAQ and enable the WLAN
(9) go into your connection settings and type in the WEP key you
specified in step (7)
(10) for good luck, do a soft-reset of your ipaq
(11) enable WLAN
(12) use pocket IE and hit a web site (you can use the address of your
router for a quick test.
Best of luck.
