I got excited when I heard that Cingular was going to
offer a Siemens SX66 Pocket PC Phone with WiFi and
Bluetooth. I've been an avid cell phone and Pocket PC
user for years, and the idea of having the two together
in one unit is exciting.

However, I started reading about the unit, and about
Pocket PC Phones in general, and was amazed to learn that
the Pocket PC Phones don't have some capabilities that
are standard these days on high-end cell phones. Most
notably:

1) The ability to assign individual ringtones to
individual persons or groups.

2) The ability to voicedial.

My first reaction was bewilderment and "What could these
people be thinking?" Then I fairly quickly learned that
there are software packages which can be installed in a
Pocket PC Phone which do provide these capabilities.

OK, fine. However, on further exploration, I'm informed
that neither Microsoft Voice Command nor any other
voicedialing software I can find will allow you to
initiate a voicedialed call from a Bluetooth headset.
Apparently this capability is prevented by some inherent
quality of the OS itself.

So, I am now left again with my bewilderment, and
wondering why I would spend $500+ dollars on a device
which whose designers left out an essential fundamental
function?

But then there's a more useful question. Is the
information I have correct? And if so, when does
Microsoft intend to correct this glaring deficit in the
Pocket PC Phone edition?
