After recently installing the High Encryption Pack on Windows Mobile
2003 2nd Ed PE, I can no longer establish SSL connections. I downloaded
it from the following URL, which contained no warning not to install it
on WM 2003 (it just looked like any other add-on):
Later, when troubleshooting my SSL problems, I came across this
different download page for the same file, which prominently displays a
fair warning:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/highencryption.mspx
"Do not install on Pocket PC devices using Windows Mobile 2003, which
includes high encryption as standard."
I attempted to uninstall the High Encryption Pack, but the uninstaller
couldn't remove:
\Windows\rsaenh.dll
\Windows\schannel.dll
I strongly suspect removing them wouldn't solve my problems anyway, and
what I really need to do at this point is revert to the previous
versions of those 2 DLLs (and any other relevant files) that shipped
with WM 2003 2nd Ed PE.
So, 3 questions:
1) Is there some place I can get stock copies of those 2 DLLs that
shipped with WM 2003 2nd Edition Phone Edition?
2) The DLLs are loaded when the phone boots up. How would I go about
replacing them without encountering a sharing violation?
3) If anyone from Microsoft is reading, you may want to add the warning
to the 1st download URL above so others don't encounter this problem in
the future. (I know, I know.. not really a question)
That's about it.. I have a sinking feeling that I'm gonna have to hard
reset to fix this problem..
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
