Wow, one question at a time Bob ;)
Ensure you are deploying your app by loading Build -> Configuration Manager
and check the "Deploy" check box next to your app.

Hello Simon,.
Thank you for your response! If I go to that dialog , select in my case my
i730 emulator and click on properties it takes me to a page with "default
output location on device" which is set to Program Files Folder (is this
where the exe is copied to on my device? It never shows up there...).
Transport is DMA, Bootstrapper is Device Emulation Startup Provider and the
configure button asks for a XML Provisioning file. Any idea what I put there
or is anything necessary?
BTW, I am using activesync 4.2 and USB to my device.
Then I go to emulator options, has the gsm bin file path, no rom image
address checked, I will check on my ram size, I think it is 128, the grayed
size. Flash memory file is blank, Host Key is Right Alt and help says it is
used for sending chords??? Huh? Whats are chords and whats their purpose?
Lastly the shared folder is blank. Are we talking pc or device and what does
it do?
Thanks,
Bob

Hit, Tools->Options->Device Tools->Devices, then select the target device
ie:
Pocket PC 2003 Device.

Well I finally got .Net CF 2.0 sp1 installed on my PC and it installed
automatically on my device . Copied the exe to my device and my app runs
fine there now. The question remaining i guess would be how to deploy it
to
the device rather than the emulator? The only targets available seem to
be
the emulators. Can I run run it on my device and debug it with VS2005?
Any
inputs would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Bob

This is my first excursion into world of mobile programming.
I am running VS2005 Pro w/Mobile 5.0 SDK. My device is a Samsung i730
PPC/Phone which I upgraded to Windows Mobile 5.0 I have a 1gb sd card
installed.
I copied and modified the files fo the Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC
Phone Phone emulator and modfied the xml and skin files to match my
Samsung i730. Wrote a small program that runs fine under the emualator.
Now I would like to see it run on my device but for the life of me I
just haven't been able to find the information to do so. How do I tell
it
to deploy and run it on my device? I have active sync 4.2 setup and
synchronizing properly with email and contacts. When I copy the exe to
the
device and attempt to run it it tells me I don't have the proper
version
software.(I presume this means I don't have CF2). I have not installed
CF2
on my device so I assume it is still 1.1 that comes with Windows Mobile
5.0. (haven't figured out how to tell). Isn't the deploy mechanism
supposed to install CF2 on my device. If not how do I do so? Anybody
have
any ideas as to what I am doing wrong? Any links that might help?
Thanks,
Bob Wells
