Re: Visa Beta 2 + VS2005 + WM5 SDK - broken?

The Visual Studio team is testing on Windows Vista, and we encountered the
problem with the Windows Mobile SDKs too.

Can you try turning off UAC(User Account Control) in
ControlPanel->UserAccounts->ChangeSecuritySettings, and then install WM 5.0
SDK? That should cause the project templates to be installed.

Has anyone tried Vista Beta 2 for Windows Mobile 5 development?

I tried it last night but was unsuccessful.

I had a clean install of Vista Beta 2. I installed Visual Studio 2005.
Everything went fine, no problems there (apart from expected requests for
Admin privs etc). I then installed the Windows Mobile 5 PocketPC SDK.
This installed fine (again, with admin requests) - no errors.

I then hooked up my PDA (HTC Wizard) and Vista detected it, installed the
necessary sync parts and everything looked okay. (No need for ActiveSync
any more in Vista).

However, when I go into Visual Studio now to create a SmartDevice project,
I don't see the Windows Mobile 5 option. Neither are the WM5 emulator
images available in the emulator selector.

I did a search and came up with this link:
http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/archive/2006/05/29/610269.aspx

Here the Windows Mobile team say they've never seen this, but there's
plenty of people with the same issue as me - installs okay but no WM5
projects available.

I can build WM2003 apps fine, and I can deploy them to WM5 devices - the
problem is just the WM5 SDK and it not integrating with VS2005 in Vista
Beta 2.

Anyone experienced this and found a solution?

Thanks
