I have eVT 3 and eVT 4 running on a couple of computers running Win
2K. I don't recognize the specific symptoms you described, but two
common causes for installation failure are not running as
administrator and an anti-virus software that disables scripting.

I'm trying to develop an application for my Pocket PC in Microsoft's
(now deprecated) eMbedded Visual Tools. I know I should be doing
development in Visual Studio these days, but I can't afford this, and
the application development I want to do is relatively minor, and for a
Windows Mobile 2002 device. Anyway, every time I try to install it on
Windows 2000, I run into problems.
The package that Microsoft offers is a Winzip Self-Extractor file. I
thus, extract the contents to a folder directly on C:. So my path
would be C:/evt. Anyway, launching the setup wizard, I go through
fine, and enter the serial number fine, but right at the portion where
it should start to install, I get an error:
"Error Launching C:/evt/acmboot.exe", and setup will deliver me another
message saying the setup failed. Upon attempting to launch
"acmboot.exe" directly from Explorer, I get a message saying that it is
not a valid win32 application.
Anything I can do?
Thanks for your help!
Brian
