Re: Best development tool for WM5?

I am looking for the easiest deployment. I have to deploy to hundreds of
different devices, so the size of a CF app is my concern. Most of our
developers are C/C++ programmers that are slowly migrating to the .NET
framework.

I have heard numerous complaints about the amount of space required for the
CF framework and SQL.

I also have done multiple test on the performance of a CF app compared to a
pure 'C' app, and the C app smokes the CF apps. Of course there is a trade
off as DB development is much more difficult in C.

Define "better". CF is faster to implement DB connectivity and UI
(probably 4x faster) and much easier to debug. Doing it in C will be
smaller and a smaller deploy (not necessarily easier).

Better usually is defined by project requirements and available resources
and skill sets. Whatever gets the job done on time and within budget with
the largest feature set is usually what I consider "best." Only you can
answer what achieves that goal.

What is the best tool to use for mobile development? I have been using
the .NET framework (1.1) and recently moved to the 2.0 framework. The
development is great, but my concern is the deployment. The .NET 2.0
framework is fairly large, and then add SQL Server mobile install. All
of this just to run a simple DB app? Most devices have the 1.0 framework
pre-installed, but 2.0 requires an install on most devices.

Would it be better to use C++ with a different database solution?
SQLite, Access, flat file, etc?

Thanks
