but am I the only one pissed off that micro$oft are charging the
developer community for their new IDE (VS2005) and then expecting
them to market the Cf 2.0 on their behalf??

I think microsoft are screwing up royally by not distributing this
(and the desktop version for that matter).... but to ask you guys to
spend your time explaining to customers why additional steps are
necessary to get your apps to work... (and potentially screw up
existing apps on users devices) just plain sucks.

Unsure what you mean. The SDK is freely downloadable. The
redistributables are too.

I mean MS aren't promoting .net and the frameworks required are taking way
too long to roll out.

puting out CFv1.0 in the ROM of 2003 devices onwards was a step in the right
direction. But messages such as "app may not display properly as designed
for an earlier version" etc... are extremely annoying. I wonder how many
software sales are lost due to such like.

And now they have gone one further. Brought out CF v2.0... mandated that
only the latest IDE can develop for it (am I wrong?) and taken the decision
to supply WM5 devices without this.

My point is... if Microsoft want to maintain momentum with .NET they have
got to start educating the masses.
Most people haven't got a clue what it is all about.
