I'm using the TAPI, i.e. have a look at lineInitialize, lineOpen, etc.
But sadly, the TAPI is very buggy on some devices. For example, the
Magician (MDA compact, XDA mini, ...) has troubles when multiple
applications have open line handles. Sometimes there's no notification,
sometimes GPRS connections won't work until everything's closed...
