How to transfer file.ex1 (in device) to file.ex2 + file.ex3 (in desktop)

I can transfer a file from the desktop to the device, and reverse, with
no problem.
But now I need to convert 1 file (in the device) in 2 files (in the
desktop)
The documentation says that this can be done when transfering from the
desktop to the device...
Somebody could help me with this ? Any trick/tip/idea ? Or where could
I find a better documentation ?
