PocketPC powers up fully when reconnecting to GPRS

Hello.

I have been experiencing a rather interesting problem and I can't find
any information about it.

Basically, my PocketPC 2003 T-Mobile PhoneEdition device seems to
power up quite a bit when I'm not even interacting with it! This is
really bad, because it already has such short battery life.

I've narrowed it down and I think that the problem happens when the
device goes back into GPRS coverage after having been "in a tunnel" or
something.

To repro this, all I have to do is to "Connect GPRS" by clicking on
the little phone icon in the title bar and then power down. Then, I
take my device into a tunnel for a few minutes, and then come back
out. As soon as the device "finds" GPRS coverage, the darned thing
powers on.

Is there anything I can do about this? Is this a known issue at
Microsoft, or is it an OEM thing?

Does anyone know what's going on here?

Thanks, Frank
