WM_CANCELMODE handling

  Within my application, if I click on the start icon, i get a WM_CANCELMODE
with both wParam and lParam as 0.
  WM_CANCELMODE is also sent when an icon from a menu is clicked.
  How do I distinguish between the two ?
  More specifically, I would like to get a notification that the Start icon
has been clicked and pause GAPI immediately.
  Can anyone tell me how to handle this ? This is urgent..
