Contacts and email sync, but calendar won't

My operating system is MacOS10.5, and I use MS Office 2008, Entourage
(v12.1.4) for email, calendar and contacts.

I have an Exchange email account with an ISP. Up until recently i had no
problem in syncronising my contacts, email, and calendar with my Windows
Mobile phone device (a HTC tytan) using ActiveSync. My email, contacts, and
calendar sync fine on my Apple laptop, and via a web browser on any other
device, and also to my ipod touch. But when i sync my Windows Mobile
handset, the email and the contacts will sync, but the calendar will not. It
looks like it is syncing and the progress bar gets near the end, but it will
never complete. Also, contacts will sync from my computer to the server to
my mobile, but if i make a change to a contact on my mobile, it won't sync
back to my laptop. (Email, however, does sync both ways). Bizarre. can
anyone offer any advice on how i can resolve this? Since this problem
started I have started using a Palm Treo Pro, also running windows
mobile/activesync, and the same problem exists. This suggests to me that the
problem is with ActiveSync. (I don't know how to find out what version of
ActiveSync I'm running by the way, as a mac user I find windows mobile
rather difficult to find my way around.)
