Re: HP IPAQ 5915 WM5.0 and Vista 64

OK, Downloaded and installed the driver in the link below. But I still get
the exact same behavior. The system recognizes the device as an "Unknown"
device. Therefore, I can't synch with it.

Hi,
If it is 64 bit then you need to install Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1
driver for 64 bit systems. See

I have WMDC 6.1 that came with my new laptop. I would think that it was
pre-bundled in with Vista 64 Home Premium unless HP installed it with the
new
laptop. It doesn't say whether the package is 32 or 64 bit.

Hi,
Did you install the WMDC 64 bit drivers as well as the WMDC 6.1 32 bit
app?

I had an older laptop with XP, and was able to synch with my IPAQ just
fine.
The laptop died, and now I have a new one with Vista 64 Home Premium on
it,
preconfigured with WMDC 6.1. I cannot get Vista to recognize my IPAQ.
It
registers the device as an "Unknown Device", and gives me a message
"USB
Device Not Recognized... One of the USB devices attached to this
computer
has
malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it."

I've tried deleting the Unknown Device in the Device Manager, but that
doesn't help. The HP support site doesn't provide any updated drivers
or
provide any help.

My sense is that if I can get my device to be recognized by Vista, then
I
can take the next step to get WMDC to synch with it.
