Did you check to make sure that the services that ActiveSync is dependent on are running?

I've usually good at solving most of the problems with my device, a Dell X51v, but this one is puzzling.

Last week, the device was working fine and able to sync without a problem. Since 2/12 I've not able to sync. Placing the device in the cradle I get the typical tone as the device connects to my laptop; however Activesync never recognizes the device is there.

In the past, I've tried a couple of things which seem to fix this.

1. Do a soft-reset on the WM device
2. Manually start AS on the laptop
3. Manually starting on the WM device.
- clicking sync

Nothing seems to work.

The only clue to what is going on is an error message I received back when this first occurred stating. An showing in Error Reporting when I rest the device.

'This error report includes information regarding the condition of services.exe..."

Checking the error report I see an EventType: WinCE501bException

On a desk or laptop I would assume I have a corrupted services.exe file. I have no reason to believe otherwise, but how do I go about correcting this problem and get back to normal.

Also, before someone tells me to check/reload Activesync on my laptop. I've got to devices. My older x5 works and sync fine to my laptop.
