Good Morning,
Thank you for the explanation. I understand now...knowledge is power!

Have a blessed day!

Make sure that whatever firewall software you're using is either off (and
that 'off' means that *everything* gets through), or has suitable open
ports for ActiveSync in it.
It would only be updated on the device when an operating system upgrade to
the device occurs. As far as I know there have not been any updates to AS
on devices since the last WM update, though. That is, all WM5 devices are
running the same version of AS on the device and all WM6 devices are
running the same version, etc. No, there is no Windows Update for Windows
Mobile. The device OEM would have to provide the update to the OS, also,
as the version running on every device is different to account for
hardware differences. Windows CE is not something that you can buy on a
CD and install to every device; it's customized for every device that runs
it.

Yes it connects, I can use the explorer and transfer items to and from
the PPC. I looked at the log file on the Desktop and it states something
like ActiveSync Syncronizing Started...
I can try uninstalling the McAffee virus program and see what happens.
So when does Active Sync update on the PPC? If you update it on the
desktop to 4.5 when does Windows Mobile update ActiveSync or any other
programs on the PPC. Isn't there a windows update for Mobile 5 or
something?

ActiveSync on the PPC is in ROM, essentially, so it's never replaced
when upgrading on the PC side.
When you say that it "connects fine", what does that mean? You can
browse the files on the device from ActiveSync on the PC using Explore
Mobile Device?
If you're pretty sure that you don't have firewall or virus/script
blocking problems on the PC side, you can do a hard reset of the PPC,
which will delete anything that you've installed on it, set the registry
back to factory defaults, etc. However, I think that this sounds a lot
more like a PC-side problem with something like a firewall than it does
like a problem with ActiveSync on the PPC side.

Good Morning,
We've got a Treo 700 and it can't sync anymore from the Cradle...it
connects, then says syncronizing but nothing get's sync...it keeps
saying Syncronizing but nothing happens for minutes on end.
I had AS 4.2 installed on Desktop, uninstalled it, installed new
version 4.5 and thought that would install the new version on the PPC
but I don't think it did. It connects fine but it hangs during Sync
and nothing happens. I unchecked all the folders but the Calendar but
sync still hangs or does nothing but says "Syncronizing" (I notice the
light on the PPC doesn't come on either)
Is there a way to Un-install ActiveSync on the Treo 700? I want to
uninstall it on the device then re-install it.
Sincerely,
Anthony Smith
