Hi,
Did you happen to install any updates/new antivirus?
If you have Once Care installed do the following based on which version you have installed:
.. OneCare 1.5 Beta: OneCare had a Version 1.5 Beta available for download on Vista that does not contain WMDC rules for the Firewall.
o This will most certainly cause issues with our devices from connecting since the OneCare firewall will block our connection traffic
o Users will have to manually configure the firewall to open our ports in order to connect their device (or disable OneCare firewall)
.. OneCare 1.5 RTW: The final RTW version of OneCare 1.5 (already available for download) will contain WMDC firewall rules but will be turned off by default:
o Users will have to manually check the WMDC rule to 'ON' in the OneCare Firewall Configuration UI
- While on Windows Live OneCare Settings dialog, Navigate to the Firewall tab and click on Firewall Connection Tool
- Ensure that ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Center - synchronize my mobile devices with my computer rule is checked.
- Click OK to exit the tool.
- Click on the Advanced Settings button to bring up the advanced settings configuration screen
- Navigate to the Ports and Protocols tab and click Add
- 7. Make sure to:
. Create a port called "Windows Mobile Device Center"
. Specify TCP Port range to be port 5721
. Specify "Inbound [local ports]" in the "For Connections" dropdown
. Scope is set to "Local network (subnet)"
Thanks,

Hi,
Is there a software firewall installed on Vista? This can prevent WMDC from connecting like you described.

I started to get sync errors when I connect the atom life to my Vista x64 WMDC so I cannot sync with my outlook 2007 notes. And the machine will not sync to exchange when connected via USB to my desktop either. If I sync OTA (via 3G) to my exchange 2003 SP2, everything works fine.
Today it became a disaster. Whenever I connect my atom life to my desktop, Vista will recognize the Window Mobile Network adapter, WMDC will appear to try to connect for a brief period and will eventually drop the connect and say the device is not connected, all the while Vista is reporting the presence of the Window Mobile Network adapter in the device manager, so I think the hardware connection is fine.
I had hard reseted the atom life and reconnected the my desktop (deleting the existing partnership first) and the problem still persist without additonal software present on the device.
Please help!!!
Software installed:
CE-Star 2.8 Suite (from mobem directly for viewing Chinese, newer than the 2.8R3)
SPB Mobile Suite
SPB Backup 1.6
Resco Photo Viewer
Mapking 2007
O2 Connect
Windows Vista x64 Ultimate.
I am very desperate
