It was a corrupted wince.nls installed by CE-Star 2.8R3. I contacted the software vendor which promptly provided an alternate version and now everything is fine....

Hi,
That's definitely strange. Have you tried installing the cert on the device?
I'd suggest contacting the OEM and asking them to report this bug.

OK. I just upgraded my Atom Life to WM6. Before I upgrade, WM5 has been
pretty much flawless in EAS.
I have a Godaddy issued cert which is supported in WM5 natively so SSL was
enabled.
However, in WM6, with the same settings, Activesync always throws an error
of 0x80072f06 which seems to indicate that the server name does not match
the certificate. I have confirmed via my browser on the PC and the cert
seems to be fine. I check the same site (OWA) on my WM6 device and it does
complain about the server name does not match the cert.
I am baffled! I know the cert matches as it is shown on server desktop and
laptop to connect to OWA without error. And my machine before upgrading to
WM6 would work fine (worked fine for couple of months, and a HTC Tytn worked
fine with EAS SSL enabled as well). But WM6 just chokes on it. Please
help!
