This sounds like the device might have a setting or a program that you run
on it which adjusts how it appears to the PC that you are connecting it to.
For example, my HTC Wizard has a program that you run when you want to use
the phone as a modem. While that program is running, if you plug the USB
cable into your PC, the phone appears as a modem, *NOT* as a sync device.
Perhaps your device has something similar to allow easy use of the device as
a media player or USB drive.

Hi
Vista sees my SPV3100 as a media player/storage medium and won't sync with
Outlook. It won't create a sync relationship
Please help
I had the same problem. Solution: reinstall the WMDC with your phone plugged
to an USB port.
