Re: Folder contents are deleted on Desktop Computer - iPAQ hx2000 series, hx2790

FIXED by removing SD or CF cards before placing PocketPC into cradle.

1.) Take both cards out and it syncs OK
2.) Fit just the SD Card DSE Bullet Series 150x 2GB and most files on the
desktop computer are sent to the recycle bin and they remain on the PocketPC
3.) Fit just the Compact Flash Card SanDisk 128MB, syncs OK
4.) If card fitted is OK then when placed in cradle after a bad sync where
the files are deleted and synced again, all my files on the PocketPC that
were deleted are copied back.

Is anyone else having similar problems???
If so, could you please post details to see if there is a problem in
hardware, a clean reset is required or a software/hardware fault in the
hx2000 series PocketPC's.

Tried installing ActiveSync 4.5 to another computer and had the same
problem.
After going through all the steps with HP Support (BTW they were very
good), the last choice was to clean reset of my PocketPC.
Then I had an idea, after remembering a previous fault with my alarms not
going off, I read somewhere if a SD card was inserted the alarms would not
go off for the hx2xxx series PocketPC's.
So I took both my cards out and Presto, I finally FIXED IT
DETAILS
Removed both the
1.) SD Card DSE Bullet Series 150x 2GB
and
2.) Compact Flash Card SanDisk 128MB
Synced again, all my files on the PocketPC returned to the Desktop.
Hope this helps somebody else, what a pain in the neck it was.
Will post back when I find out which card or cards were causing the
problem.

If I copy the contents from the PocketPC using "Explore" from
ActiveSync
4.5.0 (Build 5096) and paste contents of folders into same folders in
Desktop and Sync the files remain and all is OK but the next Sync ALL
the
files are deleted.
All other folders eg. \WM_Chris My Documents\_Invoices\2006-03 Mar to
\2007-03 Mar Sync OK with no deletions. And the same goes for the
\_Purchases folders
Can anyone tell me on what is going on? This is happening repeatedly.
Using CA Internet Security Suit 2007 and firewall has settings for MS
ActiveSync - rapimgr.exe, wcescomm.exe and WCESMgr.exe Access, Server
&
Send Mail all set as OK.
I have 102MB of free memory (The "b" Unit on the end of the model
number
signifies it comes with 256MB of useable memory).
I have re-installed MS Office 2003 and upgraded MS ActiveSync from 4.5
Beta2 to 4.5.0 (Build 5096).
Tried copying same files from a backup copy to desktop - same problem.
At least the PocketPC is retaining a copy of my files.
Do I need maybe to create a new partnership again?
I am on my 10th or 11th Partnership change fixing problems.
TIA for any help in this matter (Strange problem I am having).
