Hello Jasper, thanks for trying to help.
Yes using WMDC (upgrade version)
Same issues on my pc, vista and outlook 2007, not a chance via pc.
Sync is USB.
Firewall on pc is Vista only.
Switch usb sync with exchange server direct over lan and works like a treat. Server has ISA 2004 firewall and this no problem.
Uninstalling AS, deleting any registry entries I find, removing firewall entries.
BTW it worked the very first time I connected but not any future attempts.

Vista active sync gives no indication of errors, says failed, reason......
Nothing, only on pda gives a stupid 0x8 blah blah.
Dont get me wrong, Im MCSE avid Microsoft supporter but Active sync has been
written very poorly.
Biggest gripe are the errors / failures... give us the messages in english
Had to sync on pc connecting direct to exchange server (server name over
LAN, so this will not work when leave office)... works every time. Configure
to sync with pc... forget it...
Yes firewalls done, automatically and manually. There is no way im gonna
uninstall outlook, delete registry entries as suggested by some when
googling.
Yes uninstalled AS, rebooted (even though instuctions dont say so)
reinstalled..
Oh well had my rant... tonight Ill test it on mine via PC...yuk
You are referring to Windows Mobile Device Center correct? Are you
using OneCare Firewall, or a different firewall suite?
What type of device are you working with? Sync'ing via USB, or
Bluetooth?
