Yep, I can verify that it is enabled..
If USB is enabled, your problem gets much more complicated to figure out.
Oh dear - does that mean most likely it _won't_ be fixed, or is it
possible ?

Can you check the connection settings page and verify that USB
connections
are allowed for the computer you're trying to connect to. Disabling USB
is
the easiest way to get this event log. If USB is enabled, your problem

Nope, none of that happens. It is as if when I plug the device in, that
it
hasn't been connected at all. Usully, when I plug the device in, the
"Stand-By" option is disabled, but it doesn't even do that..
WMDC just stays on this page (No change whether it is connected or
not):

The only thing under Portable Devices, is my Nokia N93, which also
works
fine..
Looked under Event Viewer though, and I found WcesComm giving the
following
Error message 5 times: "Windows Mobile-based device failed to connect
due
to
Start USB Connection (0x80004005) failure (see data for failure code)."
Both Rapimgr & WcesComm had also reported the following "Information"
Messages, quite a few times: "Windows Mobile legacy device connectivity
service started."
Thanks for your help,

ok, well if you plug in USB then you don't need that, but can you tell
me
what happens? Do you get a crash in the "Windows Mobile-based device
connectivity" (rapimgr) service? If not are there any event logs in
the
event viewer? Does the device create a node under Portable Devices in
the
device manager when you plug it in?

Nope.. Didn't work.. :(
I changed the value to COM1, but still nothing's changed.. ( Btw My
Device
connects via USB.. should the value not be set to USB, as opposed to
COM1
? )
Anyway, if you can just provide me with just enough information to
be
able
to browse my device via Windows Explorer, I will be very grateful..

Have you seen my reply to the post above this one:
While serial is not officially supported, you can change the
registry
value
for "SerialPort" to "COM1" or "COM2" etc. Then reboot the PC and
don't
touch the connection settings page after that. You should be
able
to
connect and browse files.
Its in "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services"
It won't get you partnered for sync with a CE device, but it gets
you
the
missing connection type.

Yes, _proper_ support for Windows CE. As far as I know, it
isn't
supported
in
the current version, and I need it very urgently. The primary
purpose
of
my
PC, is just to use to develop for a Win CE 4.2 .NET Device,
with
VS
05,
and
if I can't get it to connect properly,.. then I 'm thinking of
reverting
back
to XP..
All I need to know is if it's going to be a long time till this
feature is
going to be added, so I can know whether the downgrade is going
to
be
feasible or not..
