Hi,
Based on my understanding, the authentication to the proxy is done at the
network connection level. So if your device connects directly to the
network then you need to setup the proxy settings for it.
Exchange ActiveSync justs uses any available network connection to attempt
to connect to the Exchange server. There are no settings for the proxy in
the configuration of the Exchange Server even on Windows Mobile 6.

I've read on a forum that Exchange ActiveSync doesn't supportTrue, this support has been added in WM6. I would recommend installing an
authenticating
proxies. Is this true or am I missing some setting somewhere?
ISA client on the PC and set the PC's ActiveSync to "Internet".
- Connection type set to "Internet" in ActiveSync settings on the PCThis statement doesn't seem correct. With the desktop ActiveSync set to
"Internet" is a hint to the device not to use a proxy. Did you mean
"Work"?

Hi,
My situation:
- Windows XP workstation at work with ActiveSync 4.5 installed.
- My company uses an authenticating proxy (user/password)
- Windows Mobile 5 device with ActiveSync connected to work PC through
USB
- Connection type set to "Internet" in ActiveSync settings on the PC
- Proxy server, name and password filled out in the WM5 device
- Exchange 2003 SP2 server at home reachable through SSL
- Proper certificates installed on WM5 device
The problem is that ActiveSync cannot connect to my home Exchange server
while connected through USB to my work PC. I get the error 85010008
(incompatible proxy server). Synching with Exchange through GPRS works
fine.
Also, all other applications that access the internet work fine while
connected through USB, so the proxy settings are correct.
I've read on a forum that Exchange ActiveSync doesn't support
authenticating
proxies. Is this true or am I missing some setting somewhere?
Thanks in advance for any answers.
