Re: Did WMDC sync with memory card now?

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Jane,

Thanks for your useful information.

However, I do not need to sync with my memory card like a mp3 player. The contents of my memory card consist of many different kinds of files, i.e., some application programs, mp3, Word files, Excel files, photos, etc.

I know WMC can sync the files with mp3 player but that is not I want unless it changes in version 11 comes with Vista and I did not know it.

Sync with memory card is the most of customer's request since day one of ActiveSync introduction but Microsoft insists not to have this feature in Activesync from v3.x to v4.5. I just want to clearly understand if WMDC includes it or not. If Microsoft persists to omit this feature, I just walk away and go with other utility programs as this feature is requesting a number of years and I cannot afford to lose more time with Microsoft.

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Scott,

Thanks for your question. Yes, you are able to sync media to your memory
card. To set up sync, connect your device and open Windows Media Player.
WMP will allow you to set up a media sync partnership. Currently, there is a
bug where WMP will not detect storage cards on Windows Mobile devices that
connect as Remote Network Adapters (RNDIS USB). You have two options:

1. Wait for Windows Media Player to release a hotfix via Windows Update.
It's coming soon but I don't know the release date.

2. You can workaround this bug by manually switching from RNDIS USB driver
to the serial USB driver. Some Windows Mobile 5 devices will have a tool to
allow you to make the switch.

Instructions for Windows Mobile 5 on PocketPC:

1. Start
2. Settings
3. Connections tab
4. USB to PC
5. Uncheck ‘Enable advanced network functionality’

Hope that helps!

I just installed WMDC on my new pc using Vista Home Premium and works
correctly with my O2 Atom. I am wondering if it now sync with my memory
card that is a long-awaited feature. If so, please let me know how to
configure it to work.

Thanks,

Scott
