Re: Debugging and ETL logs posted using Windows Mail

I wish you well. Its been a nightmare for me. I have noticed several threads where changes to One Care cured their sync problems.
I just noticed something moments ago that might be irrelevant. I remember one day that my phone asked about installing "Cambridge vx util" and I said no. I had not knowingly downloaded it and did not know what it did. When I was browsing parts of my device through WMDC and looking at settings, it showed "Cambridge vx util" as a program that could be installed on my 3125.
What is this? Does it have anything to do with WMDC?

I am having exactly the same problem... Using a Dell X51V on Vista Ultimate and Office 2007. Dell tech support was no help. I get a message saying WMDC was unable to connect to the network, reboot and try again, then contact admin. problem is, it's just a home pc... I can see SD card, install programs, sync media, but can NOT connect or sync to Outlook 2007. I also have Business Contact Manager and downloaded and installed the PPC version and it will not sync either. Says error connecting to BCM database. I do have One Care installed and have heard this causes problems and will uninstall that and try again. I will post my results...

Thankfully a MSFT has received and reviewed my debugging files and is now going over my ETL files. Every MSFT who has responded to my posts has been helpful, but I am worn out of going at this for over 2 weeks and not finding a fix.
Yes, I sometimes write from memory and should have said Windows Mail in the heading not Outlook Express. Okay, so I still put 2006 on some of my checks.

"Ako" <ako@utopia> wrote in message news:e$KEohtVHHA.5100@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxIn response to invitations, I sent debugging logs to 2 MSFTs (from Outlook). I also sent the ETL logs to a thread ("Worked in Evaluation" and got help from Gary) and posted the other logs in another thread here (at least in the one about error 85010014). I post these using Vista's Outlook Express and I can see the logs online. The first one or two emails sent to MSFTs were returned, but others that were sent did not trigger a message that the email was not delivered so I guess they were received but no response at this point (after 3 or more days). I hope my email did not get sent to junk email or spam which is a problem that I sometimes have since my web is often spoofed by spammers.
Just to rehearse my particular case since I am desperate to resolve this syn problem before my next trip in 9 days, let me say the following.
My Dell XPS 410 arrived just over two weeks ago with Vista Home Premium. Having researched what to do, I went to Microsoft's web and got WMDC. At first I was able to sync with my 3125. With the initial success, I turned my attention to loading office software. (A complete list is in one of the threads here where the main comment was to check my firewall yet again.) So when WMDC failed to ever make a successful syn, I did an uninstall from the control panel, a cold reboot, then reinstalled the software after downloading WMDC again in case it had been updated.
I have made several security adjustments like making sure that all the pertinent WMDC files are allowed all ports by my firewall and like configurations mentioned in threads from the past two weeks. More than once I have disabled the firewall-NIS 2007. I ran one boot with Windows firewall unchecked - which confuses me that it was running anyway so I have it disabled. I have used msconfig and disabled everything in startup and services to see (after rebooting) what would happen. No joy.
The WMDC will connect to my 3125 and has let me explore the phone, but when it starts to syn it stops. The error messages from WMDC are: syn started, syn stopped, "Activesyn encountered a problem with the desktop." Yes, it does say "Activesyn" even though I do not have it in my control panel and never installed it. I think it is just a carry-over of the old program (or from my phone) because WMDC and the Syn Center execute like Activesyn but have added features.
I have nor have I had any third party sync software on my phone. My phone consistently gives me this error code -- 0x85010014 - and the Ms KB told nothing that would solve my problem but I saw what Chris said about it on his blog. So I did a chat with Symantec about making sure that Norton antivirus was not in the way and they could not find that it was. I am uncomfortable with the idea on Chris' blog to uninstall and reinstall Outlook because if I still cannot sync again then I am without needed email, contacts, and calendar appointments.
I might add that following the advice of a Ms worker in this NG, on 2/14/07 I looked at c:/windows/inf/setupapi.dev.log but it was dated 2/9/07 and not something I could read. Then I also checked start, computer, right click, manage, system tools, event viewer, windows logs, application but it showed nothing for the 5pm attempt to sync.
I have tried my phone with a check and without a check by advanced network settings and the results are always the same.
Can someone please help? I am happy to see that others who have come in after me have found workable solutions, but my problem seems solvable and I simply need input from those who are masters of WMDC.
Harold
