Hmmm... So it sounds like your device is connecting to the desktop just fine.
But the fact you get the autoplay dialog is odd. Once WMDC is installed, we
supress that from happening.
Can you try to uninstall and then re-install WMDC? Try to make sure the
..config files stay in tact so that we capture any logging it does.

Bing-Bing-Bing on the phone and Bing from the PC? Yes, I hear that..
On the i730 I see the double arrows appear at the top of the today screen.
On the i703 I see ActiveSync go from Connecting to Connected.
WM_griffin appears in My Computer
In Device Manager, Portable Devices / Windows Mobile device appears.
During the install, I (believe I) saw three UMBus Enumerators installed and
a UMBus Root Bus Enumerator get created.
Your computer was successfully assigned an address from the network, and it
can now connect to other computers.
Log file shows entries like:
The system detected that network adapter Samsung i730 was connected to the
network, and has initiated normal operation.
The browser has forced an election on network

Looking specifically for RAPIMGR I see
Windows Mobile legacy device connectivity service started.
Looking specifically for WcesComm I see:
Windows Mobile legacy device connectivity service started.
Thanks for your help!

all.
When you plug it in, do you get the 'usb device connected' ding?
Do you see any new nodes show up in the Device Manager?
Are there any events in the Event Log from Rapimgr or Wcescomm?

While I almost sent you wmsetup.log by mistake, no log files were created.
I rebooted and waited for the system to quiet before connecting my i730.
I did get the ‘autoplay’ box and selected Open device to share files.
I clicked on Windows Mobile Device Center in my start list and in the
control panel.
I did not find either log file in my %TEMP% directory.
In the \windows\windowsmobile directory I see those two files listed as 'XML
Configuration File (.config)' Sound correct?

Hi,
Can you follow the instructions here to enable debug logs, try to open WMDC,
then mail the logs to me? Hopefully we can find what's causing the problem
there.

WMDC, I believe, should automatically start when you attached a mobile
device. If it is not starting, it might be benficial to begin
troubleshooting with the firewall settings. This can cause WMDC to
not open properly. You will need all of the classic ActiveSync ports
open.
Outgoing UDP
5679 - Handshake Incoming TCP
990 - RAPI
999 - Status
5721 - DTPT Provides Network access to device connected through WMDC
5678/5679 - Legacy Replication
26675 - AirSync
And the processes:
C:\Windows\WindowsMobile\wmdc.exe
C:\Windows\WindowsMobile\wmdHost.exe
C:\Windows\WindowsMobile\wmdsyncman.dll
That would be my first step.
