I posted a list of steps a while back that I used to set up my K-Jam for
sync with both PCs. Each PC tries to reset the name of the device when you
first establish a partnership, so you have to keep changing it back, soft
resetting the device, and reconnecting to the PC to get it to understand
that the name you entered is what you really meant. You might look for that
thread in the archives using GoogleGroups at groups.google.com...
There's no benefit to starting a new thread.

Hi Paul,
I have deleted all partnerships on K-Jam and PC's, completeley reset the
K-Jam to Manufacturer's deafaults but I still get the same problem. It
appears as though my contacts, calendar and tasks are acting like email in
which you can only synchronize with one PC only. I am going to enter this
again in the forum so it is higer up the list.
Thanks

Thanks for that Paul. I'm away from the office for a while so I will have
to
try it when I return. I will let you know for the record what i get.

Yes, both PCs show in the Options dialog when the device is connected.
Both
PCs have Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, Notes, and Favorites selected for
them,
yes. I had a problem with that when I first connected the device, but
it
corrected itself. Sorry I don't remember the circumstances, but I
don't
think that it involved uninstalling. Might have killed both
partnerships on
the device and each PC and then started over. Might have been setting
the
name, not to what ActiveSync wants it to be by default, but to "KJAM".
Might have been a later-than-release ROM update from Club iMate.

Paul,
Because I rambled on a bit before let me just clarify. Under the
options
menu on either PC you have two PC's showing, Laptop and Desktop and
under
each one you have the entries for Contacts, Calendar etc. Then for
example,
for contacts, your saying you have the box ticked under both your
laptop
and
desktop. If this is the case then my installation is completely
screwed. I
may have to uninstall the lot and start again.
Thanks

No, I don't have to deselect one PC to sync anything. Both my
laptop and
my
desktop are syncing contacts, calendar items, favorites, and notes
with
the
K-Jam. I don't sync with the laptop very often, so it could be that
with
daily syncing comes some problem that I don't see.

Hi Paul,
The Notes I think we are both referring to are the notes that are
attached
to Contacts & Calendars (Outlook 2003 on both PC's). The changes
are
straightforward with the change either being made on one PC or the
other
and
not on the device itself. If I just synch with one PC then it is
quick.
What I find strange is the way you set the synching up between two
PC's
with
Mobile 5.0. I mention this more for clarification though I'm sure
that
what I
am about to write is the way it works. In previous versions of
PC's
you were asked whether you wanted to synch with one or two PC's
when
you
setup the second connection. If you selected two then it would go
ahead
and
sychronise the content and then under the option menu all you saw
was
Calendar, Contacts email etc. Email could only be sychronised with
one
PC
as
it is with Mobile 5.0 but all the other objects were just ticked
and
they
would synch with both PC's. You did not see references to for both
PC's.
With Mobile 5.0 you see both PC's listed and for Contacts,
Calendar and
Tasks you can only check the box under one PC at any one time
having to
deselect the currently selected one which then comes up with a
message
stating whether I would like to retain the information for the
object
selected. Once I do this it then goes away and saves the settings
which
can
take more then a minute. It then synchronizes and takes a while to
complete.
Is this the way it works on your's?
Sorry if it seems a daft question but it seems a step backwards to
me
as
regards the previous versions of Pocket PC.
Thanks

I use a K-Jam and sync with two computers with few problems.
There
are
cases with notes where you edit a note on the device, sync with
one
PC,
change the note again, maybe on the PC, sync the device with the
other
PC,
then return to the first one and end up with multiple versions of
the
note
Grocery List, Grocery List1 or something, but notes are
relatively
reliable
for me.
What version of Outlook are you using? Same on both machines?
You're
using
Notes created, not as separate files, but as Notes in Outlook,
right?
I never had a WM2003 device, but syncing takes a relatively short
period,
after the initial sync to each PC (maybe a minute, if the PC is
busy).
I think we're going to need a *lot* more information and
investigation
before a solution becomes apparent. You might eliminate the
partnership
to
one PC on the device (via the ActiveSync application running on
the
device),
and see if syncing with just the one partner does anything for
your
performance. That's a pretty easy experiment (you'll want to
delete
the
partnership on the other PC, too, before recreating it, for
cleanliness)...

Jon,
I thought I was the only one getting this. I am getting various
problems
since upgrading to a WM5 device (I-Mate K-Jam) My previous Ipaq
synchronised
perfectly with the odd glitch now and then. For me as well as
the
notes
not
synchronising, i also get deletions not carrying across and
synchronising
taking forever. I am synchronising with two PC's and I don't
know
whether
the
speed issue is related to this as it synchronises with two PC's
in a
completely different way to how it did it previously. Hopefully
someone
out
ther has a solution.
Lou
I've had a real nightmare with my phone since i upgraded from
WM2003
to
WM5
(m500 to M600) with contacts and appointments with notes note
syncing
up.
I
was using AS4.5 and office 2003.
I take on board the point made here:
Hi,
The problem with synchronizing Notes attached to Contacts and
Appointments
is related to their size. The comments field in Contacts and
Appointments
is limited on the Windows Mobile side to about 16k.
Chris De Herrera
but most of my notes are a couple of lines at the most.
I have solved the problem by exporting all my contacts and
calendar
to
csv,
and then downgrading to outlook 2002 which came with the
phone. I
now
have
all attached notes but an older version of outlook. Apparently
if
you
upgrade to office 2007 it works too.
First of all why does this occur: i presume it's due to the
different
way
that 2003 handles the .pst file.
Secondly is there any way of going back to 2003.
