Re: Sync One Device with Two PCs

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Hi,

Would recommend he delete the partnership's from both his computers and also
from the mobile device and then connect again and set it up in the manner he
wants. First delete the partnership from the device.

On the device (disconnect it first):
Start ->Programs -> ActiveSync -> Tools -> Options and delete the
partnerships (associations with computers) that are found there.

Then before connecting on either of the computers, do the following:

1. Disconnect the device from the computer.
2. In Activesync -> File -> Mobile Device.
3. Select the device whose synchronization relationship you want to end.
4. On the File menu, click Delete Partnership.
5. Connect the device to and setup a new partnership.

That way there will only be two partnerships and ActiveSync shouldn't prompt
you with the message to delete a partnership.

Raj, my client has responded with the following comments: (hope you can
help)

I read the info contained in the links.

However, my problem is that Activesync seems to think that I am trying to
setup more than 2 partnerships when I actually only want 2 (i.e. 1 at the
surgery & 1 at home).

Therefore I get the following error message:

Delete a Partnership

Delete an existing partnership before begining a new one ....

So, after deleting a partnership & completing the subsequent steps in the
setup process, I find the same problem recurs each time I re-sync between
the 2 desktops.

Hi,

Connect and setup a partnership on the first PC. When you connect to
the second, you will be prompted whether you want to sync with two
computers. Although the screen shots are of the older ActiveSync
version, it should give you an idea -

Greetings,
I have a client who needs to synchronize his Pocket PC with two
computers.
He has to use Activesync v4.2 with his device.

I tried to delete the partnership but when I re-establish the
partnership it
does not ask me if I want to create a partnership with more than one
device.

How do I sync one device with two computers?

I look forward to your response.

Best Regards
@rty
