On my Axim X51v (don't think it was an option on my old X50v), I can do a
"hard-off" by configuring the power button in the Power Settings to do a
Full Power Off when it's pressed and held. I do that when I'm connecting
via USB, as opposed to my cradle, because the constant waking up and syncing
will drain the battery faster than the USB cable can charge it.
I thought the ActiveSync hack that went around with AS 4.x first came out
would allow you to modify the schedule for non-Exchange sychronizations?
Might be worth investigating that... Basically, you set up a fake Exchange
Server synchronization in AS, configure the schedule to "Manual", save it,
and then delete the server. You can also adjust the schedule to every 4
hours, or something goofy like that, if you find that acceptable.
Anyway, just some other options/thoughts...

Active Sync 4.2 automatically syncs every few minutes even if my pocket pc
is turned off in the cradle (USB connection). I do not want to deactivate
sync via USB but is there an option to stop automatic sync while the
device is off?
Thank you
Thomas
